Biography
Calista Lim is a Malaysian soprano who has graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Voice (Hons) from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (GSMD), London, UK. During her time at Guildhall, Calista has been under the tutelage of Ruby Philogene-Doran and has been very fortunate to have performed in venues such as Barbican Centre, Milton Court Concert Hall, and Basilique Cathédrale de Saint-Denis in Paris. She has participated in various music competitions and festivals in both London and Malaysia.
Now based in Malaysia, Calista has also ventured into other genres such as Pop, Mando-Pop, Musical Theatre, and Jazz. She is currently a member of the Jazz vocal trio group “Pop n’ Bop”, formed by established Jazz pianist Michael Veerapen. She has performed in various jazz clubs in KL such as Jaotim, Bobo KL, and Simply Jazz. She has also performed alongside the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Apart from singing, Calista is a professional dancer as well. She started off with Latin dance at a young age and has since picked up Ballet and Jazz foundations. Calista has trained under various instructors in studios such as Pineapple Studios, Base Studios, and Studio 68 during her time studying abroad in London. She has performed in shows as a backup dancer in Malaysia and continues to train in Street Choreography
and Hip Hop.
